This was a book that I have greatly anticipated reading based on the many favorable blog reviews I've read. This author composes words on a page like a symphony. Muriel Barbery tells a lovely tale of a concierege named Renee, an eccentric character if there ever was one. She knows the residents of her building and about their lives but prefers keeps to herself.
Paloma is an eleven year old girl who lives in the building and is weary of her mundane family and decides she should kill herself before her twelfth birthday. One day she and Renee spend some time together and have a conversation. In learning about one another they begin to develop a new perspective on life.
A sweet story of unexpected friends. I have the movie on my Netflix clue, it's titled "The Hedgehog". I've also purchased another book by this author titled "Gourmet Rhapsody" that came highly recommended.
