In Love of Books and Friendship

I am a passionate reader and hopeless bibliophile.  When I am not reading I am quite often shopping for more books. Nothing makes me happier than when someone asks me to recommend a good book . . . so you've come to the right place.  Let's talk about books. Tell me, what are you reading?

About Me

Hello and welcome! My name is Lori and I have been a voracious reader all of my life. I've always said the best things my parents did for me was put braces on my teeth and get me a library card. Growing up we lived a few blocks from the library and I could go whenever I wanted, and leave with as much as I could carry.

My favorite genres are literary fiction, historical fiction, classics, biographies, chick-lit, sometimes crime/espionage or mysteries. Not really interested in thriller, fantasy or YA.

My purpose here is to catalog and record my books and hopefully discuss with others why this book was a must read or why that one was not worth the read.

I am married to an exceptionally wonderful man and we live in the San Francisco bay area with our (combined) three children and our cat Carmella who is the perfect lap accessory while reading.

Some bookish things about me:

- I've never read a book twice nor do I intend to anytime soon.

- I finish every book I start no matter how much I'm not enjoying it.  One Hundred Year's

of Solitude is my least favorite book.

- I only read one book at a time. Reading more than one feels like I'm cheating on the

other and I like to be focused on one story at a time.

- I hate and will rarely see the movie first before reading a book. It's worse to have an

someone else's image set in your mind while reading a book than to think afterwards

"that's not how I pictured her at all."

- Walking by a bookstore without going inside is a kind of torture for me.

This blog, like me is a work in progress so I'd be grateful for your forgiveness for possible ineptness and typos (I only see them after I hit "publish"). Thank you for visiting and reading my blog.  I appreciate your comments.

In love of books . . .

Lori
